Fatty Acid Production Line

Fatty acids are the cornerstone of the oleochemical industry, and the professional fatty acid production line is the central, highly engineered heart of a modern chemical plant. The whole production process is mature, efficient, and tailored for large-scale, continuous output of high-purity fatty acid products. Ocean's fatty acid production solutions leverage mainstream, industrial-proven technologies, primarily continuous high-pressure hydrolysis, to convert raw fats and oils into essential industrial oleochemical ingredients. Our customized fatty acid production line systems are engineered for maximum product yield, outstanding energy efficiency, and stable automated operation, helping enterprises realize standardized and high-value fatty acid mass production.

Key Process of Fatty Acid Production

1.Raw Material Pretreatment Section

Prepared oils and fats are filtered, blended for consistency, and preheated to the optimal temperature. This stage ensures a uniform, clean feedstock is delivered to the core reactor for efficient and stable hydrolysis, laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the subsequent fatty acid production line and high-quality finished products.

2.High-Pressure Continuous Hydrolysis Section

This is the heart of the entire fatty acid manufacturing process. Pre-treated feedstock enters a high-pressure hydrolysis tower where it reacts counter-currently with high-pressure hot water at temperatures of 250-260°C and pressures of 5.0-6.0 MPa. Using a catalyst, triglycerides are fully split into fatty acids and glycerol. The hydrolysis rate exceeds 98%. Crude fatty acid is drawn from the top, while glycerol-rich "sweet water" is extracted from the bottom for subsequent recovery and treatment, realizing efficient raw material conversion for the fatty acid production line.

3.Fatty Acid Distillation & Refining Section

Crude fatty acid is first dehydrated and then enters a high-vacuum distillation system equipped with professional evaporation equipment including theThin-Film Evaporator and fractionating column. Under precise temperature and vacuum control, pure fatty acids are efficiently separated from high-boiling residue ("foots"). The low-residence-time working principle of the Thin-Film Evaporator effectively avoids thermal deterioration of heat-sensitive fatty acids and guarantees product purity and color. An optional fractionation stage can further separate mixed acids into high-purity individual components like stearic or oleic acid, enriching the product categories of the fatty acid production line.

4.Glycerol Recovery Section (By-Product)

The sweet water produced from fatty acid hydrolysis undergoes multi-step purification, concentration and vacuum distillation to recover high-value, refined glycerol (≥99.5% purity). In this process, the high-energy-saving Multi-Effect Evaporator serves as the core concentration equipment, which greatly reduces steam consumption through cascade heat utilization. This efficient by-product recovery mode turns waste process streams into profitable co-products and improves the overall economic benefit of the fatty acid production line.

5.Product Forming & Packaging Section

Final refined fatty acid products are cooled and shaped according to different product characteristics. Liquid fatty acid products are stored in insulated tanks for bulk shipment. For solid products like stearic acid flakes, molten acid is crystallized on a flaking belt cooler or pastillator and then automatically packaged. This fully automated finishing process completes the full closed-loop production of the industrial fatty acid production line.

Key Advantages

High Efficiency & Yield

The continuous high-pressure hydrolysis process adopted by our fatty acid production line achieves material conversion rates over 98%, ensuring maximum raw material utilization and high daily output capacity. Matched with professional evaporation and distillation equipment, the entire production process maintains high efficiency and low loss, greatly improving enterprise production benefits.

Advanced Energy Integration

The whole plant design features extensive heat recovery networks. Waste heat from distillation, condensation, and cooling phases is recaptured to preheat feedstock and utilities. Especially the Multi-Effect Evaporator applied in glycerol recovery realizes secondary steam cyclic utilization, significantly reducing steam and fuel consumption and making the fatty acid production line more energy-saving and environmentally friendly.

Full Automation & Precise Control

A centralized DCS/PLC system monitors and controls all critical parameters—temperature, pressure, flow, and level—of the entire fatty acid production line and core equipment such as Thin-Film Evaporator and Multi-Effect Evaporator. It ensures consistent product quality and safe, labor-efficient operation with minimal manual intervention, realizing intelligent and stable industrial production.

Comprehensive Product Range

The integrated distillation system equipped with a high-performance Thin-Film Evaporator and optional fractionation systems support flexible production of the fatty acid production line. It can produce from standard industrial mixed acids to high-purity, separated fatty acids such as stearic acid and oleic acid, fully catering to diverse market and industrial application needs.
