Peony Seed Oil Refining Process
Peony seed oil is derived from the seeds of the peony plant, a woody nut oil. The production process involves dehulling, crushing, flaking, steaming, and pressing the peony seeds to obtain crude peony seed oil, which must undergo further refining before it is ready for packaging and consumption.
Peony seed oil contains over 90% unsaturated fatty acids, with a particularly high level of alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid) at 42%. Therefore, during the deacidification and deodorization process, it is crucial to control the temperature to avoid the formation of trans fats, which are harmful to human health.
Peony Seed Oil Refining Process:
Crude oil → Acid mixing → Acid reaction → Alkali mixing → Neutralization reaction → Centrifugal separation → Water washing reaction → Centrifugal separation → Drying → Mixing with decolorizing agent → Decolorization filtration → Gas stripping → Heating → Combined de-acidification and deodorization → Heat exchange and cooling → Refined oil → Cooling crystallization for wax separation → Plate and frame filtration → Finished first-grade oil
